Hi, Austin here!
I’m a family medicine resident physician (mouthful I know) living in the wonderful state of Delaware! If you don’t know what a resident physician is I encourage you to watch scrubs my all time favorite TV show. Prior to this current role I was a medical student in need of furniture with a medical students budget, and so began my journey into woodworking! From one piece to another I began building for myself and then family and friends, and I have learned so much along the way. I am constantly learning and developing my woodworking / making skills, all in parallel with my medical career.
A lot of people ask how I find time woodworking during residency. Life as a resident can definitely be time consuming and frequently overwhelming. Crazy as it is, I am so happy I chose to dedicate my life to the field of medicine! One of the reasons I continue to pursue woodworking outside of my daytime duties is because it brings me so much joy and peace in my life. I think its important to be intentional with your time, and woodworking has become my way of finding mindfulness and mental health outside of a career that can be stressful at times.
Thank you so much for finding your way to this page, and being curious enough to read more about my journey!
